Asked constantly. Answered plainly.
Fees, payouts, taps, disputes — the answers below keep the client's real numbers, so you can quote them to your accountant.
01What is ScanPay?
The simplest way to collect all types of digital payments — an all-in-one app for payments, invoicing and job tracking built for home-service pros. No POS terminal or card reader to buy: customers pay from their own phone, or tap yours.
02How much does ScanPay cost?
A flat 2.5% per Tap to Pay transaction; online payments are 2.7% + 20¢. That’s it — no setup fees, no subscription fees, no hidden fees, no equipment costs.
03Is there a contract or subscription?
No. There is no contract and no cancellation fee — you can stop using ScanPay anytime, penalty-free.
04Who can use ScanPay?
Service professionals and small businesses in the United States with an active US (+1) mobile number who pass basic business-legitimacy checks. Sole proprietors are welcome — no legal business structure required.
05How do I sign up?
Download the app, verify your mobile number with an OTP, and complete the basic business checks. Applications get a reply within 24 working hours; extra review can add 1–2 business days.
06Do you check my credit history?
Never. Verification is for identity only. Your SSN is encrypted, used solely for legally required verification, and never shared or sold.
07Which devices work with ScanPay?
The app runs on iOS and Android; desktops and tablets use ScanPay Web at web.scanpay.tech with no download and no extra fee. Tap to Pay needs iPhone XS+/iOS 16.7+ or an NFC Android on Android 11+.
08How can I delete my account?
Email support@goscanpay.com. Deletion or deactivation is subject to regulatory record-retention requirements that apply to payment companies.
09How do customers pay me?
Create a payment or invoice in the app or on ScanPay Web, then collect by Tap to Pay, QR code, or a link sent by text or email. Both of you get instant confirmation when it settles.
10Which payment methods can I offer?
Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH bank transfer, PayPal and all major cards — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover. You can also record cash and checks so everything lives on one ledger.
11Do my customers need the ScanPay app?
No. Customers never download anything or create an account. They scan the QR with their camera or open your link, and checkout happens on their own phone.
12Do customers enter card details on my phone?
No — checkout opens on the customer’s device, and ScanPay never exposes their card details to you. They share a mobile number or email only if they want a receipt.
13How do invoices and receipts work?
Build professional invoices with line items, taxes, fees, discounts, notes and photos, then send by SMS or email — free, unlimited, with your business name and logo. Receipts live in the Receipts tab, shareable by QR, text, email, link or PDF.
14What is the Catalog?
Reusable items (name, category, unit price, taxes, SKU), service charges (flat or percentage — think emergency or rush fees) and tax rates you can drop onto any invoice and still edit per line.
15Can I collect tips and service fees?
Yes — set service-fee amounts, let customers edit tips, and control tip collection across the team for uniform invoicing.
16Can my whole team collect payments?
Yes — unlimited team members, free, with Admin/Member roles and per-person permissions on who sees what. Every payout still lands in one central business account, and you’re notified no matter who collects.
17What is Tap to Pay?
Contactless acceptance on the phone you already carry: customers tap their card, phone or watch on your iPhone or Android and the payment is approved on the spot. No terminal, dock or dongle.
18What are the requirements?
iPhone: XS or later on iOS 16.7+. Android: functioning NFC on Android 11 or above — supported across Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi and more.
19Does Tap to Pay cost extra?
No. It is the same flat 2.5% as every ScanPay in-person transaction — there is no Tap to Pay surcharge and no ScanPay-specific amount limit (card issuers may set contactless limits).
20How do I apply for Tap to Pay?
You don’t — every approved ScanPay account gets Tap to Pay automatically on eligible devices.
21Will it drain my battery?
No noticeable battery impact — NFC only wakes for the seconds of the tap.
22What if I lose my phone?
Email support@goscanpay.com and the team will hold your account. Mobile authentication blocks anyone else from getting in.
23Whose name shows when the customer taps?
Your Team Name — editable anytime under Manage Team, so the brand on the tap screen is yours.
24What is a payout?
The transfer of your ScanPay balance to your linked business bank account. Standard payouts run automatically on your payout schedule via free ACH and land in 2–3 business days.
25How do Instant Payouts work?
Move available funds to your bank in about 30 minutes, 24/7 — weekends and holidays included — up to 10 times a day. The fee is 1.5% of the amount with a $5 minimum (a $500 instant payout costs $7.50), provided in partnership with Stripe.
26How is my balance calculated?
Payments collected minus refunds and fees, plus or minus any credits or dispute adjustments — shown as Upcoming Payouts and On the Way in the app.
27How do I link my bank account?
Complete KYC/KYB, then link via your online-banking login or manual entry. Manage it under Manage Bank Account; anything odd, email support@goscanpay.com.
28How does customer financing work?
Sunbit and Klarna are built into ScanPay — no separate signup or integration. Customers apply in about 30 seconds on their own phone, with a 90% approval rate and instant financing up to $20,000, split over 3–12 months.
29What if my customer misses payments?
Not your problem. You are paid the full amount upfront; repayment is handled by the financing partner, and you carry no liability for missed payments or financing chargebacks.
30Can ScanPay finance my business?
Eligible merchants get capital offers based on ScanPay sales history — no personal credit check, one flat fee, no interest. Repayment is collected automatically as a percentage of your ScanPay sales, and funds arrive in about 2 business days.
31What is a dispute?
A customer challenges a charge with their bank, and the bank reclaims the amount while it investigates. You’ll see it in the Disputes section plus email and mobile notifications.
32How do I fight a dispute?
Respond in-app or on the web within the deadline, attaching evidence — invoices, receipts, signed contracts, confirmations. ScanPay’s human support works disputes with you; most cases resolve in 40–90 days.
33How do I avoid chargebacks?
Clear business info on every receipt (so no “unrecognized charge” claims), prompt communication, timely refunds and clear payment policies. ScanPay receipts carry your name and logo for exactly this reason.
34How secure is ScanPay?
Payments are powered by Stripe — PCI-compliant, SOC 1 and SOC 2 certified, with machine-learning fraud prevention. In the app: biometric barriers on sensitive details, auto-lock, and in-app card blocking and freezing.
35Where is my money held?
ScanPay partners with Stripe Payments Company for money transmission, with funds held at Fifth Third Bank N.A., Member FDIC. TrustLayer protection funds are held at JPMorgan Chase.
